Over the years, our 11+ Intensive Coaching has become an invaluable part of successful 11+ preparation, giving children the opportunity to step away from their usual weekly learning and really focus on the skills, techniques and tricky areas that can make the biggest difference.

Our Winter Intensive Coaching sessions are designed to build the foundations children need to confidently access all three 11+ papers — Maths, English and Verbal Reasoning.

​

We’ll work through the fundamental and technical skills required for each paper, including areas that may not yet have been covered in the primary school curriculum but can feature in the 11+.

​

We’ll also spend time drilling down into some of the more challenging and commonly misunderstood areas, helping children understand how to approach different question types and develop strategies they can take into their 11+ preparation.

 

What will we cover?

 

Key Pathway Maths & English Skills:
These sessions will focus on the key Maths and English skills and knowledge children need to confidently access, progress through and tackle the 11+ Maths and English papers.

 

Verbal Reasoning – Code Breaking Questions:
We’ll focus specifically on the four different types of Verbal Reasoning ‘Code Breaking’ questions. These are often some of the most unfamiliar and challenging VR questions for children, so we’ll break them down, explore the different approaches and give children plenty of opportunity to practise.

 

Verbal Reasoning – Maths & Technical Rule/Pattern-Based Questions:
This session will focus on the more technical Maths-based and rule/pattern-based Verbal Reasoning questions, helping children recognise patterns, understand the rules and develop efficient strategies for tackling them.

 

Verbal Reasoning – NEW Question Types:
With the move to the Quest exam board, children will encounter some new Verbal Reasoning question types. This session will introduce these new styles of questions, giving children the opportunity to understand how they work, develop strategies for tackling them and build confidence in approaching these unfamiliar question types.

A note on our 11+ Mock Tests: Our 11+ Mock Tests start during the Easter holidays as part of our Spring Schedule and then run all the way up until the 11+ tests (during holiday periods) as part of our Summer & September Schedule. We feel that this is the earliest children should begin to sit Mocks.
